As a Project Manager for Infrastructure and Security Systems, your role is multifaceted and critical for ensuring the successful implementation and maintenance of robust infrastructure and security measures based on client’s requirements. Here’s a breakdown of key responsibilities and skills typically associated with this role:
Responsibilities:
- Develop project plans outlining tasks, timelines, resource allocation, and milestones for infrastructure and security projects. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure components such as servers, networks, storage systems, and cloud services. Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of infrastructure.
- Lead the implementation of security measures including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption protocols, access controls, and security policies. Stay updated on emerging threats and security best practices.
- Identify potential risks to infrastructure and security systems and develop mitigation strategies. Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to minimize vulnerabilities and prevent security breaches.
- Manage a team of infrastructure engineers, security analysts, and other IT professionals. Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members to foster their professional growth and ensure project success.
- Evaluate and select third-party vendors for hardware, software, and security solutions. Negotiate contracts and oversee vendor relationships to ensure deliverables meet quality standards and budget constraints.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards such as ISO 27001. Establish and enforce security policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Maintain accurate documentation of infrastructure configurations, security protocols, incident responses, and project updates. Generate regular reports for stakeholders to track project progress and security metrics.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- Must possess a minimum of Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering/Science/IT, Electronics/Electrical. Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
- The Applicant must have a minimum experience of 3 years in managing ICT Engineering Projects.
- Strong understanding of networking, systems administration, virtualization, cloud computing, and cybersecurity principles. Proficiency in tools and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, VPNs, and encryption protocols.
- Excellent project management skills with experience in planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management. Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or Asana.
- Effective communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitate meetings, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire team members, resolve conflicts, and drive consensus. Experience in coaching and mentoring team members to enhance their skills and performance.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and address complex infrastructure and security challenges. Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and experience in implementing risk management strategies to protect infrastructure and data assets from cyber threats.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements, technologies, and business priorities. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of ethical considerations in cybersecurity practices and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing data protection and privacy.
