MazaoHub is seeking an experienced and passionate Operations & Outreach Lead Agriculture to join our team. The Operations Lead will report directly to the Chief Operations and Outreach (COO) and will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Farmer Excellent Centers (FECs) and ensuring the smooth execution of our strategies to support smallholder farmers. Successful candidates will be required to live in proximity or frequently travel to key agricultural zones in Tanzania.

About Farmer Excellent Centers (FECs): Farmer Excellent Centers are the heart of MazaoHub’s operations, serving as hubs for delivering our innovative software solutions and support to smallholder farmers. FECs are strategically located in rural areas and are managed by our dedicated team of extension officers and field personnel. These centres provide farmers with access to soil testing services, personalized farm insights, and input recommendations, all powered by MazaoHub’s cutting-edge technology. The Operations Lead will play a critical role in ensuring the success and growth of our FECs, driving the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices, and ultimately improving the livelihoods of the farmers we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the daily operations of assigned FECs, ensuring they meet performance targets and provide excellent service to farmers.
  2. Implement outreach strategies to engage with farmers in rural areas, conduct field visits, and provide support and training on MazaoHub’s software and services.
  3. Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing partners, such as input suppliers, financial institutions, and agricultural organizations.
  4. Collect, organize, and analyze data on farmer demographics, agricultural practices, and crop yields to support data-driven decision-making.
  5. Monitor daily performance metrics and report on progress to the COO and management team.
  6. Collaborate with the COO to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Manage, train, and mentor a team of field officers and extension workers to ensure they provide high-quality support to farmers.
  8. Actively promote and educate farmers on regenerative agriculture practices and support their adoption.

Required Qualifications:

  • Higher Diploma in agriculture, business, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in agricultural operations, project management, or a related role.
  • Fluency in Kiswahili and English.
  • Strong passion for regenerative agriculture, farming, and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural areas and work closely with farmers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or a related field.
  • Practical experience in farming or managing agricultural operations.
  • Knowledge of regenerative agriculture practices and their implementation.
  • Experience working with agricultural software and technologies.
  • Established a network within the agricultural sector in East Africa.
