HSESS Manager – ETC Cargo Limited
ETC Cargo Limited, a leading logistics park spanning 55 acres in Mbagala, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, seeks a passionate and experienced HSESS Manager to champion a culture of health, safety, Environment, security, and social responsibility across our warehousing and trucking operations.
About the Role:
You will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our employees, protecting the environment, and maintaining the highest quality standards in our operations. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive HSE program that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential safety, health, quality, and environmental risks within the warehousing and trucking operations.
- Investigate and report all incidents, near misses, and accidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee compliance with all relevant Tanzanian HSE regulations, standards, and client-specific requirements.
- Develop and deliver effective HSE training programs for all employees, fostering a culture of safety and environmental awareness.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of warehousing and trucking operations, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring adherence to HSE protocols.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the HSE program, recommending and implementing process enhancements.
- Maintain open communication and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including employees, management, regulatory bodies, and clients.
- Analyse HSE performance data to identify trends and implement data-driven approaches for improvement.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date HSE documentation, including policies, procedures, and records.
- Develop, implement, and enforce security policies and procedures to safeguard staff, property, and inventory.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify potential security vulnerabilities.
- Oversee security systems (alarms, CCTV) and ensure their proper functioning.
- Manage security supervisors and ensure they adhere to protocols.
- Investigate security incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment for all staff.
- Promote a positive social environment through conflict resolution and team-building initiatives.
- Stay informed of industry best practices and legal requirements related to security and social responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSE role within the logistics or warehousing industry.
- Familiar with Road Transport Safety and training is required.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive HSE program.
- Strong understanding of Tanzanian HSE regulations and best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant HSE software (desirable).
