In line with this expansion, they are creating a Tanzanian subsidiary to facilitate all operations within the country and seek an energetic individual to join the team as General Manager – Climate Forest Tanzania.

As a Project Developer this inaugural project in Tanzania is ambitious, covering over 650,000 hectares of forest across five distinct Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs). The project will unfold in collaboration with the Community Wildlife Management Areas Consortium (CWMAC), marking the beginning of a transformative journey in Tanzania.

In light of this, 44.moles are actively seeking an experienced professional to take on the role of General Manager for Climate Forest Tanzania. As the successful candidate you will serve as the first point of contact for stakeholders involved in 44.moles’s Tanzanian operations. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide spectrum, demanding not only professional expertise but a nuanced understanding of business etiquette in Tanzania.

In the role of General Manager you will be entrusted with overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with the company’s stringent standards. Navigating the intricate landscape of local labour laws, tax regulations, and other statutory obligations will be a key responsibility, ensuring seamless compliance.

As General Manager your role will include recruiting additional employees under the Climate Forest Tanzania banner, a task that will be carried out alongside the assistance of project partners. Fostering a positive and collaborative work culture, aligned with 44.moles’s company’s values, will be essential in creating a cohesive and productive team. Collaboration with respective project managers is crucial to ensuring that employees have all the necessary training, information, and equipment to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.

Additionally, as the General Manager you will collaborate with partner organisations to ensure the successful execution of the project. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, ranging from government officials to local community members, will be integral to the role. Regular updates and reports to 44.moles head office in Göttingen Germany are anticipated, along with the implementation of financial controls and reporting mechanisms to monitor adherence to budgets and strategic plans.

As the ideal candidate you will hold a bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field, with 6+ years of experience in a management position or roles with transferable skills and possess the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal and written skills in both English and Swahili, are essential. Any knowledge of the carbon offset market is advantageous, but a candidate who can demonstrate excellent leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with experience with the domestic regional government and regulatory landscape should apply.
