Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Finance coordinates the provision of efficient financial support services within the business, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies and procedures for Zambia.

KPIs:

Ensure business compliance with the company’s financial policies regarding budget processes

Ensure business compliance with company accounting and administrative practices in accordance with legislation and generally accepted accounting principles.

Cash and Risk management.

Ensure the team delivers the highest standards of departmental, cross-departmental, and cross-company teamwork and customer service.

Development of the business’ Financial department personnel.

Management reporting.

Performance Standards:

  • Prepare and submit the annual budget to the Regional for approval in a timely manner, adhering to established budget guidelines and principles.
  • Maintain expenditures within approved limits by ensuring adherence to budgetary control procedures.
  • Timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions within the G4S ERP system, maintaining precise and comprehensive records supported by source documentation.
  • Supervision of the Accounts Receivable function, including the implementation of proficient credit control measures.
  • Management of the financial system to ensure optimal productivity, meeting present and future business requirements.
  • Supervision of continuous enhancements to accounting and financial processes, along with team development, aiming to establish best practices and achieve optimal output.
  • Formulation and oversight of accounting policies and procedures tailored to current and future business models.
  • Supervision of external audits, analysis of outcomes, and endorsement of audited financial statements.
  • Preparation of the annual financial report.
  • Ensuring adherence to internal policies and pertinent regulations, with punctual completion of required filings.
  • Development and management of an internal review function to ensure compliance with finance and operations controls and policies across provincial and field offices, including the implementation of effective follow-up processes.
  • Timely preparation and submission of accurate monthly result forecasts, facilitating proactive measures to prevent undesirable outcomes.
  • Analysis and assessment of monthly accounts, comparing actual performance to budgets, recognizing trends and presenting precise management information to the Managing Director.
  • Efficient coordination of litigation, insurance, and other claims.
  • Managing Ongoing Banking Relationships for Maximum Efficiency.
  • Supervising the Cash Management Function, Including Banking Relationships.
  • Developing Cash Flow Forecasting and Maintaining a Long-Term Cash Forecast.
  • Taking Responsibility for the Management of the Insurance and Risk Management Program.
  • Overseeing the Annual Insurance Renewal Process and Ensuring Appropriate Coverage is Maintained at All Times
  • Ensuring Appropriate Legal Review of Contracts and Seeking External Legal Advice as Required. Reviewing Finances of Preferred Vendors.
  • Ensure the team delivers the highest standards of departmental, cross-departmental, and cross-company teamwork and customer service.
  • Ensure the optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals.
  • Develop finance and accounting team goals that are fully aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Lead and coach the team, recruiting and retaining high-caliber staff.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support; set professional development plans to assist employees in reaching their full potential through the performance management process.

Effectively manage subordinate personnel in terms of:

  • Performance assessment
  • Skills development
  • Career path and succession planning
  • Provide continuous financial modeling and analysis expertise to business partners.
  • Lead financial modeling and analysis to support the development of long-term strategic initiatives and business plans.
  • Take responsibility for financial management reporting.
  • Present monthly and year-to-date financials with accompanying analysis of results.
  • Develop regular reporting and analysis, including key performance indicator reports, and conduct ad hoc financial analysis as necessary.
  • Ensure that financial management reporting tools and processes are established to support current and future business needs.
  • Develop and prepare a comprehensive monthly management reporting package.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements, along with monthly, quarterly, and annual returns.
  • Submit reports as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant with Big 4 Accounting Firm Articles
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading a finance team commercially
  • Proficient in accounting and auditing skills
  • Demonstrated ability in a multinational environment
  • Experienced in international reporting standards
