Role purpose

In this role you will be responsible for definition of scale-up strategy, relevant business case and implementation of a brand-new end to end business model, aiming at empowering small holder farmers in Tanzania. Support planning, implementation and scale up of local pilots in a dynamic and multi-stakeholder environment.

Accountabilities

• Defined business model and implementation of specific Modern Agriculture Platform (MAP)

interventions leading to increase of program sustainability.

• Delivery of MAP Operating Model, implementation plan and its execution

• Creation of MAP Theory of Change framework linking farmer archetypes to specific

intervention

• Establish Monitoring and Evaluation system for agronomic trials contributing to optimal rice

paddy production price definition and its oversight

• Lead and drive successful implementation of first pilots with local team, growers & key

customer.

• Build strategic partnerships with input partners, mechanization partners, banks, insurers &

tech companies to offer a comprehensive solution to our growers.

• Ensure all aspects of the new model set-up are conducted in fully compliant manner.

• Responding to external stakeholders specifically development donors and government.

Qualifications

 

Knowledge, Experience & capabilities

 

• Previous experience in Consulting (e.g. BIG4), Investment (e.g. Venture Capital) or food value

chain Companies is a strong plus.

• Demonstrable business development experience is highly desirable.

• Private sector contacts and proven ability to engage industry players at various levels.

• International work experience structuring commodity value chains is a strong plus.

• Out-of the box thinker who actively engages with surrounding environment and can design

concepts and convert to practical programs.

• Self-starter who can lead the project and anticipate and plan effectively execution of ground operations.

• Business acumen and prior entrepreneurial experience and linking commercial operations to a profitable financial context is an added advantage.

• Strong an appetite for innovation & new technologies.

• Previous experience in crop Agronomy is a plus – Knowledge of agribusiness markets, crop value chains and experience dealing with growers.

• Proven track record of developing/running businesses in complex and demanding environments is a plus.

Language skills: Fluent in Tanzanian Swahili & English
