Sanku
Nature and Scope of work:
The role holder is responsible for supporting the Head of Department to maintain and grow Sanku’s existing donor base, develop new funding streams and raise funds.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain our fundraising dashboard, proposal and reporting calendar, donor database, and pipeline of opportunities.
- Conduct research on funding activities and priorities of prospective funders.
- Own the donor acknowledgment process.
- Manage a portfolio of funders.
- Draft compelling and competitive grant proposals for foundations, government aid agencies, and corporations.
- Coordinate with the Finance team to process grant payments and comply with funders’ reporting procedures.
- Coordinate with Programs teams to ensure timely execution of grant deliverables, gather accurate and relevant data from the field.
- Produce timely and informative progress reports for funders, elevating key achievements of Sanku programs and activities relative to funder priorities.
- Develop new fundraising activities and funding streams.
Competencies Required:
- A proven track record in writing successful high-value fundraising proposals and budgets that secure funding from Institutional Donors, Trusts and foundations.
- A thorough understanding of best practices in applying to Institutional Donors, Trusts and Foundations.
- Excellent project management and coordination skills.
- A good understanding of international development programmes.
- Ability to write well-researched, compelling and convincing, creative, tailored, Institutional Donors, trusts and Foundations applications.
- High levels of numeracy and previous budget preparation experience.
- Good diplomatic skills & cross-cultural sensitivity
Work Experience and Education Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience leading major fundraising campaigns
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (such as marketing, public relations, communications).
